Ensuring Readiness and Deterrence: Commander of MNC NE Visits JFCBS Brunssum

BRUNSSUM, The Netherlands – Lieutenant General Dariusz Parylak, Commander Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE), paid a visit to Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) on the 10th of December, 2024.

Together, we are committed to working with our Allies to enhance deterrence and defence

Upon his arrival, Lieutenant General Parylak was warmly received by the Commander of JFC Brunssum, General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta. Following the formal welcome, he engaged in productive discussions with senior staff at the headquarters. The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for Lieutenant General Parylak to learn more about JFCBS, and discuss ways JFCBS and MNC NE can continue to collaborate in the future. Key topics of discussion included operational plans, mutual support, and the coordination of activities between the two headquarters.

"As NATO's operational headquarters, JFC Brunssum relies on the exceptional capabilities of MNC NE to translate our vision into decisive action on the Eastern Flank,” said General Miglietta. “Maintaining strength and resilience is essential to the Alliance's deterrence and defence posture in this vital region."Additionally, the meeting served as a platform to explore prospects for future cooperation. Both sides discussed expanding mutual training opportunities, strengthening interoperability, and aligning their efforts to address common commitments within NATO’s framework.

“Our work on NATO’s eastern flank is crucial, and I am determined to continue this endeavour,” said Lieutenant General Parylak. “Together, we are committed to working with our Allies to enhance deterrence and defence.”

This visit underscored the importance of close collaboration between NATO’s operational and tactical-level commands, highlighting their shared dedication to ensuring readiness, deterrence, and stability across the Alliance's areas of responsibility.

Based in Szczecin, Poland, MNC NE is a part of the NATO Force Structure. They command the multinational battlegroups located in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. MNC NE serves as a persistently present, regionally focused headquarters ready and stand-by to take the lead of Allied operations across the north-eastern flank of NATO as a regionally aligned NATO Response Corps. MNC NE and its subordinate units train for defensive operations, in order to effectively deter any attack and if need be to defend the Alliance's northeastern territory against any aggressor.
