Rear Admiral Dong Goo Kang, Republic Of Korea, Director of Joint Chiefs of Staff Strategy and Plans, and accompanying delegation, visited HQ Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS), Monday 13th May 2024.
Major General Mark Pullan, JFCBS Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans, welcomed the Admiral and his delegation to the headquarters.
NATO, as a purely defensive Alliance, has values based around the safeguarding of freedom and security.
“It is my greatest pleasure to welcome you to JFC Brunssum,” said General Pullan. “NATO, as a purely defensive Alliance, has values based around the safeguarding of freedom and security. Working with global partners that share these values supports collective deterrence, enhancing global security and stability.”
The Republic Of Korea and NATO have been closely cooperating since 2005, as part of NATOs ‘Partners Across the Globe’ framework, which enhances practical military cooperation activities, and in 2023 signed an Individually Tailored Partnership Programme (ITPP) furthering cooperation.
In working together we can enhance interoperability between NATO nations and the Republic of Korea to address crises on a global platform.
Partnerships such as these are essential to NATO, not only do these allow greater interoperability between forces and cooperation during exercises, they also allow transformation of partners’ militaries and actively promote dialogue.
“Our partnership with NATO has grown ever stronger over the nearly 20 years of close cooperation,” said Admiral Kang “Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic stability are mutually supportive, one has a direct impact on the other. In working together we can enhance interoperability between NATO nations and the Republic of Korea to address crises on a global platform.”
