JFC Brunssum Joint Engineers Host U.S. EUCOM-AFRICOM MILENG Symposium

Brunssum, The Netherlands – Joint engineers from Headquarters Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) hosted nearly 100 engineers from across U.S. European Command (EUCOM) and U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) for the annual U.S. EUCOM-AFRICOM Joint Engineer Symposium, 19th to 21st November, 2024.
I see this workshop as one of many activities that is integrating U.S. forces into NATO within the European Theatre

The symposium is designed to provide a forum for military engineers to synchronise efforts, share lessons learned, and discuss new programs and technologies across different theatres of operation.

“I see this workshop as one of many activities that is integrating U.S. forces into NATO within the European Theatre,” said Lieutenant General Jean-Pierre Perrin, JFCBS Chief of Staff, in his welcoming remarks to the group. “I hope the conference venue and topics provide for useful discussions amongst you all, furthering the preparation of U.S. activities in Europe and Africa.”

Six workshop sessions were held throughout the three-day event, covering topics including military construction priorities, operational energy and strategy, and the focus topics of several military units from across EUCOM and AFRICOM. The topics were intended to give participants a greater understanding of joint engineering capabilities, future engineer plans, crisis and conflict response, and day-to-day operations.

The EUCOM-AFRICOM Joint Engineer Symposium is an annual event that changes location each year. The symposium was held in Garmisch, Germany in 2022, and then moved to Naples, Italy in 2023.
