JFCBS Staff Members Receive NATO's Most Prestigious Awards

Commander Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) Brunssum, General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta honoured twenty service members for their service to NATO and to JFCBS. The ceremony was held on 6th September at the JFC Brunssum Headquarters.

Your service has greatly strengthened our Alliance.

Three members of JFC Brunssum were honoured with NATO's highest award, the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM). The JFC Brunssum Commander also presented five Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Recognition Awards to former and current members of JFC Brunssum. In addition, General Miglietta presented twelve Commander’s Commendations to members of his multinational staff.

General Miglietta, addressing the awardees, said "It is an honour to present these awards, especially the prestigious NATO Meritorious Service Medal, to those who have shown extraordinary dedication and leadership. Your service has greatly strengthened our Alliance.”

Public recognition is an important principle in honours and award ceremonies. The ceremony took place in the presence of the honourees' families and JFC Brunssum employees. Recognising excellence is important to ensure that JFC Brunssum leadership acknowledges its top performers in a manner that is commensurate with their achievements.

NATO’s Meritorious Service Medal was established to recognize exceptional or remarkable service in the interests of the Alliance by military and civilian personnel. The SACEUR Recognition Award was established in order to recognize exceptional service and outstanding individual achievement in a way that may be career enhancing for the recipient. The Commander’s Commendation nominees received the Commendations in recognition of their exceptional service beyond the normal demands of duty, or for outstanding and meritorious discharge of a particular task, which has made a significant contribution to the successful achievement of JFC Brunssum operations and tasks.
