JFCBS Welcomes Vice Admiral Perry, Commander JFC Norfolk

Brunssum, The Netherlands – Vice Admiral Douglas G. Perry, Commander Joint Force Command Norfolk (JFCNF), visited HQ Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) today, 19th March 2024.
Close co-operation between our commands is vital for NATOs ability to conduct operations in response to events

Met by Commander JFCBS General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, this was the first official visit by Admiral Perry. During the visit Vice Adm Perry received a number of briefs on NATO’s Regional Plans and operations as well as visiting the operational heart of JFCBS, the Joint All Domains Operation Centre (JADOC).

“It is my great pleasure to welcome Admiral Perry to JFCBS. Close co-operation between our commands is vital for NATOs ability to conduct operations in response to events,” General Miglietta said about the visit.

The three NATO Joint Force Commands - Brunssum, Naples and Norfolk – are the operational level commands responsible for executing the strategic vision of Supreme Headquarters Allied Power Europe (SHAPE). Each JFC has responsibility for a different Joint Operational Area (JOA), ensuring the security and stability of these regions. Brunssum’s JOA consists of most of Northern Europe, whilst Norfolk’s covers the North Atlantic, Iceland and Norway.

During the Steadfast Defender series of exercises, this relationship and the cohesion between the two JFCs has been tested and proven successful. The exercises have demonstrated NATOs ability to move forces across the Atlantic to main land Europe in the event of a crisis.

Steadfast Defender continues throughout the spring, concluding with Exercise Grand Quadriga in Lithuania during May.
