Brunssum, The Netherlands – On Wednesday, 28 February 2024, the Director Logistics & Resources of NATO’s International Military Staff in Brussels, Major General Luc Vanbockryck, Belgian Army, visited the Joint Logistic Support Group (JLSG) and the Headquarters Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS). On behalf of Commander, General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, he was warmly welcomed to JFCBS by the Deputy Commander JFCBS, Lieutenant General Luis Lanchares.
The International Military Staff (IMS) is the executive body of the Military Committee (MC), NATO’s senior military authority. The Logistics and Resources (L&R) Division - among other duties - develops and defines policies and principles, plans and concepts on all matters concerning logistics, medical, civil preparedness, military personnel and civilian personnel functions, as well as NATO common-funded resources. In addition, the Division is the IMS’ focal point for the three resource pillars: NATO infrastructure investment, military budget and personnel. The L&R Division acts as a facilitator with nations in the Logistics, Medical and Resource Committees.
At the JLSG, Major General Vanbockryck met the Commander, Brigadier General David Schnabel, Czech Army, and his staff, with whom he discussed the common view on collective logistics and the process of harmonisation and integration of national logistic plans into NATO.
One of the topics tackled during his meetings at JFCBS HQ was the impact of Sweden’s accession to the Alliance for NATO’s logistical capabilities in JFC Brunssum’s area of responsibility.
