Brunssum, the Netherlands – On 3rd and 4th June 2025, the 2nd Logistic Conference for Joint Force Command Brunssum’s (JFCBS) Area of Responsibility was conducted at the venues of Headquarters JFCBS.
These were two days of intensive work and fruitful discussions
Co-hosted by the JFCBS Assistant Chief of Staff Logistics, Brigadier General Ronald Rietbergen, and the Commander Joint Logistic Support Group Brunssum (JLSGBS), Brigadier General Vit Watroba, some 100 participants representing the logistic sections and departments from various NATO Headquarters and Institutions in JFCBS’ Area of Responsibility gathered at Camp Hendrik.
The focus of the conference was to align operational and tactical logistic concepts of support, discuss all relevant logistic issues and confirm respective roles, responsibilities and authorities in JFC Brunssum’s Area of Responsibility.
Logistics is the backbone of every military activity. Without proper manpower and supplies, maintenance of material, and the infrastructure to deploy the troops, no armed forces can sustain operations over a longer period. Constant adaptation of procedures, techniques and means are required to react to the fast evolving security situation in Europe.
With the support of the Logistics Senior Mentor, retired Lieutenant General Jan Broeks, the conference was organised in round tables tackling topics like ‘Be Ready Tonight, Be Ready Tomorrow’, ‘Reinforcement and Sustainment’, and ‘Logistic Challenges’.
Towards the end of the two-day endeavour, General Rietbergen summarised the outcome: “These were two days of intensive work and fruitful discussions. My assessment is that we are on a good track to improve the logistic posture in our Area of Responsibility and will be better positioned to cope with the logistic challenges lying ahead. I cordially thank all participants for their contributions and initiatives.”
