BRUNSSUM, The Netherlands – General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, Commander of Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS), and Italian Chief of Defence (CHOD), General Luciano Portolano, joined Hungarian Chief of Defence, General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, at the Multinational Battlegroup Hungary (MN BG HUN) base in Veszprém on 26th January, 2025.
NATO’s readiness, exemplified by the Hungarian-led battlegroup, ensures that we remain united, prepared, and committed to safeguarding peace
“Hungary is a cornerstone of NATO’s presence on the eastern flank,” said General Miglietta. “Today’s visit underscores the vital role Hungary plays in securing our shared future.”
The centerpiece of the event was the inauguration of a new building for Multinational Brigade Hungary, the first of five to come. The new infrastructure, a symbol of NATO's commitment to modernisation and operational excellence, is also a visible step in the Alliance's and Hungary's efforts to scale up the current Multinational Battlegroup to brigade size.
The event included the opportunity for delegation members to engage with the Italian contingent from among the multinational troops, and to witness the capabilities that support NATO’s presence in the region.
“This visit reinforces the strength of our Alliance,” General Miglietta said. “NATO’s readiness, exemplified by the Hungarian-led battlegroup, ensures that we remain united, prepared, and committed to safeguarding peace.”
