Joint Force Command Brunssum Welcomes UK Defence Leaders

BRUNSSUM, The Netherlands – Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) welcomed the UK Vice Chief of Defence Staff (VCDS), General Dame Sharon Nesmith, and UK Military Representative to NATO, Lieutenant General Ian Cave.

The presence of high-ranking UK personnel at JFCBS reaffirms the UK's unwavering commitment to the Alliance and its dedication to fostering a secure and stable Europe

Lieutenant General John Mead, Deputy Commander of JFCBS, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests on behalf of General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, Commander of JFCBS.

In his address, Lieutenant General Mead emphasised the vital importance of constantly unifying National and NATO efforts to deter and defend. Accordingly, he thanked the UK delegation for their visit to understand the JFC’s warfighting transformation.

During their visit, the UK delegation received a series of in-depth briefings. These briefings provided insight into a range of operational level matters, including: The imperative to adopt a Multi-Domain Operations approach, JFCBS's roles during peacetime, crisis, and conflict, the importance of synchronized planning between NATO and its member nations and the Alliance’s strategic presence in the Baltic region and eastern flank.

The United Kingdom continues to play a vital role within NATO, contributing to its operational capabilities and strategic objectives. The presence of high-ranking UK personnel at JFCBS reaffirms the UK's unwavering commitment to the Alliance and its dedication to fostering a secure and stable Europe.

The visit also provided an opportunity to recognise the outstanding contributions of UK military personnel stationed at JFCBS Brunssum. An award ceremony was held to honour the dedication and service of these individuals, celebrating their achievements and reinforcing the spirit of cooperation and excellence that defines NATO's operations.
