Brunssum, The Netherlands – On Wednesday, 21 May 2025, the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, His Excellency Augusto Massari, paid a visit to Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS). The Russian invasion to Ukraine has deeply changed the strategic landscape along NATO’s Eastern Flank and throughout Europe in general
At his first visit to HQ JFCBS, Ambassador Massari was warmly welcomed by the Commander JFCBS, General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, himself an Italian national. The programme comprised briefings for the guests by JFCBS senior staff on the security situation in JFCBS’ Area of Responsibility and the role and tasks of JFCBS as an operational Headquarters of NATO.
In his welcome address, General Miglietta highlighted the dynamic and enduring role that Italy plays within the Alliance, constantly demonstrating support for NATO’s collective defence, deterrence efforts, regional stability, and for a dialogue always with a clear 360-degree approach. The Commander pointed out: “Dialogue and cooperation are not only diplomatic tools, but essential elements in strengthening international security and preserving the shared values on which NATO is founded.”

General Miglietta continued: “The Russian invasion to Ukraine has deeply changed the strategic landscape along NATO’s Eastern Flank and throughout Europe in general. In this context, credible deterrence, steadfast mutual support among members and also partners, and the unity of the Alliance are vital to prevent the conflict from spreading further.”
