JFCBS Covid-19 Staff update 9 April 2020

Brunssum, the Netherlands, Thursday 9 April 2020

Efforts within NATO to support member nations in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continue on a high level. Several tons of medical supplies including 190,000 masks and 180,000 protective suits arrived in Poland today to help the country combat the effects of coronavirus. The flight was arranged by the Polish Armed Forces using the NATO managed Strategic Airlift International Solution (SALIS). An Antonov-124 aircraft took off the morning of 07 April from the SALIS Base of Operations in Germany and loaded the cargo in Shanghai, China, the following day. The aircraft reached its final destination in Wroclaw, Poland, in the early morning hours today.

As part of its efforts to strengthen resilience, NATO has worked for a generation to enhance preparedness for all eventualities. These capabilities are now applied throughout the Alliance during the coronavirus pandemic. NATO pays tribute to the health care workers, and all those who are on the front line in the battle against the disease. NATO military medical staffs remain vigilant, focusing on sharing information and implementing preventive measures.

JFC Brunssum wishes all staff, their families, friends and communities, a Happy Easter, this year in the light of the crises obviously under unusual circumstances. Don’t forget to stick to the rules of physical distancing and apply frequent hand hygiene. Stay safe and healthy!
