JFCBS COVID-19 STAFF UPDATE 24 April 2020

Brunssum, The Netherlands, Friday 24 April 2020

What is JFC Brunssum doing?

Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) has taken prudent measures to protect the civilian community hosting us in the Limburg province to the best of our ability.

All JFCBS personnel, military as well as civilian, have been ordered to strictly comply with the rules and restrictions issued by the Dutch Government. As Brunssum is home to us, no one of us will be exempted. We share the privation our neighbours encounter.

In order to mitigate any spread of COVID-19, JFCBS has largely reduced movements and physical presence of personnel on base. The majority of our troops and employees have been working from alternate duty locations (i.e. from home) for now more than four weeks. This policy remains valid with no limitation.

By order of our commander, we imposed a shift system that allows us to remain operational and maintain sustainability while at the same time reduce risk to a minimum. This includes cancellation of all previously scheduled visits and, for the first time in NATOs 53 years of presence in Brunssum, broadcasting a virtual rather than in-person ceremonial change-of-command.

JFCBS has no subordinate units or medical stocks at disposal in Limburg but remains on stand-by to respond to requests from local authorities.
