Dec 11, 2014

10 December - Lieutenant General John W. Nicholson, Jr., Commander Allied Land Command (LANDCOM), announced that LANDCOM has achieved Full Operational Capability (FOC) at a press conference during Exercise Trident Lance conducted at the Joint Multinational Training Center in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

Ambassador Francesca Tardioli, Deputy Assistant Secretary General at NATO’s Operations Division who represented NATO HQs at the press conference, stated: "Exercises are of critical importance, especially as we move from a deployed NATO to a more prepared NATO in the post-ISAF era.  Exercises such as this are critical to maintain the military interoperability we need.”

Seizing the opportunity to convey his message, Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Philip M. Breedlove, said: "Exercises such as Trident Lance serve to underscore the fact that NATO is ready, with highly capable forces at its disposal, to meet security challenges head-on in a fast and effective way.”

Commander LANDCOM added: "The exercise validated LANDCOM’s ability to successfully command multinational forces engaged in the execution of complex ground to air operations and rapidly deploy those forces, as necessary, in response to an evolving crisis”.
